A TETRA system has been ordered by the seaport operator European Container Terminals (ECT) to serve its container terminals in the Port of Rotterdam. These terminals are among the largest in the world and by far the largest in the western hemisphere. Even the largest container ships can berth at them, 24 hours a day.

The digital radio system will be installed by system integrator SAIT Zenitel Netherlands, using TETRA infrastructure from the Dutch manufacturer Rohill. With three radio sites and more than 20 line-connected dispatcher positions, it will support 450 handportable and 350 mobile radios.

Due to enter operation in mid-2012, the new installation will cover both the Delta Terminal and the Euromax Terminal.
